कमजोर नाभिकिय बल और गुरुत्वाकर्षण

मूलभूत कणो मे कुल छः तरह के क्वार्क और छः तरह के लेप्टान है लेकिन पूरे ब्रह्माण्ड में स्थायी पदार्थ(Stable matter) सबसे हल्के क्वार्क(अप और डाउन) , सबसे हल्के लेप्टान (इलेक्ट्रॉन)  तथा न्यूट्रीनो से बना हुआ है। अन्य भारी कण स्थायी नही होते है, उनका क्षय हो जाता है और वे हल्के कणो मे परिवर्तित हो जाते है।

कमजोर नाभिकीय प्रतिक्रियायें भारी क्वार्क तथा भारी लेप्टान के क्षय(decay) होकर हल्के क्वार्क और लेप्टान बनने के लिये उत्तरदायी है। जब किसी मूलभूत कण का क्षय होता है तब हम एक विचित्र प्रक्रिया होती है : मूल कण विलुप्त हो जाता है और उसकी जगह दो या ज्यादा भिन्न कण ले लेते हैं। कुल द्रव्यमान और ऊर्जा संरक्षित रहती है लेकिन मूल कण का कुछ द्रव्यमान गतिज ऊर्जा में परिवर्तित हो जाता है जिससे नये बने कणों का कुल द्रव्यमान मूल क्षय हुए कण से कम होता है।

हमारे आसपास का समस्त पदार्थ सबसे छोटे क्वार्क और लेप्टान से बना है जिसका और आगे क्षय संभव नहीं है।

क्वार्को के वर्ग (flavor)

हर क्वार्क का अपना वर्ग(flavor) होता है, वैज्ञानिक छः तरह के क्वार्को को एक दूसरे से अलग करने के लिये वर्ग(flavor) शब्द का प्रयोग करते है। उदाहरण के लिये अप क्वार्क का वर्ग(flavor) “अप” है। “आवेशित कमजोर नाभिकिय प्रतिक्रिया(charged weak nuclear interaction)” किसी कण का वर्ग परिवर्तन कर सकती है और वर्ग परिवर्तन केवल आवेशित कमजोर नाभिकिय प्रतिक्रिया से ही संभव है। कमजोर नाभिकिय प्रतिक्रियायें; जिनमे उदासीन Z कण भाग लेता है किसी कण का वर्ग परिवर्तन नही कर सकती हैं।

लेप्टान कणो का भी वर्ग(flavor) होता है, इसके अतिरिक्त उनके अपनी इलेक्ट्रान संख्या, म्युआन संख्या तथा टाउ संख्या भी होती है। यह हम पहले ही देख चुकें है। जब  कमजोर नाभिकिय परिक्रिया किसी लेप्टान का वर्ग परिवर्तन करती है तब इलेक्ट्रान संख्या, म्युआन संख्या या टाउ संख्या का संरक्षण होता है ।

जब किसी क्वार्क या लेप्टान का छोटे कणों में क्षय होता है, हम उसे वर्ग (flavour)परिवर्तन कहते हैं। उदाहरण के लिये म्युआन का इलेक्ट्रॉन में परिवर्तन। सभी वर्ग-परिवर्तन कमजोर नाभिकीय बल के फलस्वरूप होते हैं।

कमजोर नाभिकीय प्रतिक्रिया के बलवाहक कण W+, W-,तथा Z कण है। W कण विद्युत आवेश रखते हैं जबकि  Z कण विद्युत उदासीन होते हैं।

स्टैंडर्ड मॉडल में विद्युत-चुंबक प्रतिक्रियाओं तथा कमजोर नाभिकीय प्रतिक्रियाओं को एकीकृत इलेक्ट्रोवीक(Electroweak) प्रतिक्रिया का नाम दिया है।

स्टैन्डर्ड मॉडल में कमजोर नाभिकीय और विद्युत-चुंबकीय प्रतिक्रियाओं को एकीकृत कर एक इलेक्ट्रोवीक सिद्धांत बनाया गया है।

भौतिकशास्त्री लंबे समय से मानते थे कि कमजोर नाभिकीय बल और विद्युत चुंबकीय बल एक दूसरे से संबंधित हैं।

अंत में उन्होंने पाया कि बहुत छोटी दूरी(10^-18 मीटर) पर कमजोर नाभिकीय बल विद्युत चुंबकीय बल के तुल्य होता है। दूसरी ओर इससे 30 गुणा दूरी(3×10^-17 मीटर)  पर कमजोर नाभिकीय बल की क्षमता विद्युत-चुंबकीय बल का 1/10,000 भाग रह जाती है। किसी प्रोटान या न्यूट्रॉन के अंदर क्वार्कों के लिये दूरी  (10^-15 मीटर) पर यह बल और कमजोर हो जाता है।

इससे भौतिकशास्त्रियों ने निष्कर्ष निकाला कि कमजोर नाभिकीय बल और विद्युत-नाभिकीय बल की क्षमता मूलतः समान होती है। क्योंकि किसी प्रतिक्रिया की क्षमता बलवाहक कणों के द्रव्यमान और प्रतिक्रिया की दूरी पर निर्भर करती है। इन दोनों बलों की क्षमता में निरीक्षित विशाल अंतर W/Z कणों तथा फोटान के द्रव्यमान में विशाल अंतर के फलस्वरूप है। W और Z कण अत्यधिक भारी है, जबकि फोटान का द्रव्यमान नहीं होता है।

गुरुत्वाकर्षण क्या है?

गुरुत्वाकर्षण एक विचित्र बल है। निश्चय ही यह एक मूलभूत प्रतिक्रिया है लेकिन स्टैन्डर्ड मॉडल इसकी व्याख्या नहीं कर पाता है। यह वर्तमान भौतिकी के सबसे बड़े अनुत्तरित प्रश्नों में से एक है।

इसके अतिरिक्त गुरुत्वाकर्षण बलवाहक कण की खोज अभी तक नहीं हुई है। ऐसे एक कण के उपस्थित होने की संभावना व्यक्त की गयी है और आशा है कि इसे किसी दिन शायद खोज लिया जायेगा। इस कण का नाम है “ग्रेवीटान(Graviton)“।

सौभाग्य से गुरुत्वाकर्षण का प्रभाव कण भौतिकी अन्य तीन बलों की तुलना में इतना कम होता कि इसकी उपेक्षा करने से गणनाओं में कोई प्रभाव नहीं पढ़ता है। इसलिए स्टैंडर्ड मॉडल में गुरुत्वाकर्षण का समावेश नहीं होने पर भी वह कार्य करता है।

 हम गुरुत्वाकर्षण बलों की गणना करना जानते हैं, लेकिन हम इस बल को क्वांटम सिद्धांत के गणित के साथ जोड़ना नहीं जानते हैं। महत्वपूर्ण यह है कि स्टैन्डर्ड मॉडल में ग्रेवीटान की खोज अभी तक संभव नहीं हो पाना भी कोई आश्चर्य नहीं है क्योंकि यह कण बहुत ही कम नगण्य सी प्रतिक्रिया करता है, जिससे इसकी जांच कर पाना अत्यंत कठिन हो जाता है।

जिस तरह से आइजेक न्यूटन के गतिकी के नियम गलत नहीं थे लेकिन उन सिद्धांतों के विस्तार की आवश्यकता थी। आइन्सटाइन ने उच्च गति और अत्यधिक गुरुत्व वाले क्षेत्रों के लिए न्यूटन के सिद्धांतों का विस्तार किया था। इसी तरह हमें स्टैंडर्ड मॉडल का विस्तार कर उसमें गुरुत्वाकर्षण का समावेश करना होगा।
